The Women’s Institute is an old organisation which is going through a period of change. What was required long ago is no longer, and so change is inevitable. It’s Howden WI’s belief that the change should be led by its members or people who would join us were things different, i.e. if the WI ran events that they could wholeheartedly support without reservation. The WI cannot be all things to all women so it will never suit every woman to be a member. But we are great believers in the majority. If we do things that the majority of women enjoy doing, then that’s good enough for us.
